Who we are. This site is run by BEAMINSTER CURRY HOUSE, 24-26 Hogshill Street, Beaminster, DT8 3AA. We are responsible for the personal information you give us here.
We handle your personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We use your details only to process orders and bookings, to contact you about them, and to keep the transaction records the law requires us to keep.
For online orders we may store your name, phone number, email address and order history. You can pay by cash or card online. Card payments made on this site are handled by Ryft: your full card number is entered on their secure form and is never seen or stored by us.
We share what is needed to get your order to you and to hold your table — with our own kitchen and front-of-house staff, and with the services that send your confirmation email and take your payment. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.
The chat assistant. Messages you type to the assistant on this site are sent to an external AI service to work out a reply. It never asks for card or payment details and cannot take a payment — you enter those yourself at checkout. Please do not type card numbers into the chat, or anything you would not want read by a member of staff.
Why we are allowed to hold it. We need your details to take and fulfil your order or booking — that is our contract with you. Separately, the law requires us to keep accounting records of every sale, so those we keep because we have to.
How long we keep it. We keep your details for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet the six-year record-keeping the law requires of us. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
Information leaving the UK. Two things here are run by companies based outside the UK, so what you send them is processed abroad: the chat assistant. They are bound by contract to protect it to UK standards and to use it only to provide that service. Nothing else you give us leaves the UK.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — subject to records we are legally required to keep. Please make these requests in writing: email beaminstercurryhouse@gmail.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies & your device
We do not track you. There is no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking on this site. Nothing here follows you to other websites. That is why there is no cookie pop-up to click through — almost everything we put on your device is either needed for the site to work or something you chose yourself. The one thing that is neither is remembering your details, and we ask you first with a tick box that starts empty.
What this site keeps on your device (this is separate from the records we hold on our own system — see the Privacy section):
- Your basket — so it is still there if you close the page and come back.
- Light or dark mode — whichever you picked.
- Your last order number — so you can track that order.
- Your details — only if you tick the box at checkout — your name, phone, email, saved on this device so you do not have to type them again next time. The box starts unticked and nothing is stored unless you tick it. To change your mind later, tap “Not you? Clear” at checkout, which wipes it and unticks the box. This is a convenience copy on your own device and is separate from our own records: when you place an order we keep your details on our system as well, as described in the Privacy section. Clearing this device does not delete those, and does not need to — you can ask us to delete them separately.
- A partner pass — only if you arrived by scanning a partner or venue QR code. It remembers which one, so the right address or offer is applied. It expires by itself.
Other companies whose files this page loads. The fonts, icons and page code come from Google, Cloudflare and jsDelivr. Loading a file from them means your device’s IP address reaches those companies, as it would on most websites. They set nothing on your device for us. Ryft also sets its own cookies when a payment page is shown; those are for spotting fraudulent payments and are needed to take a card safely.
Clearing it. You can delete everything listed above at any time through your browser’s settings (usually under Privacy, “Clear browsing data” or “Cookies and site data”). Blocking or clearing it will empty your basket and forget your preferences, but you can still order.
That only clears what is on your device. It does not remove the order records we hold on our own system — those are covered by the Privacy section, and you can ask us to delete them at any time. To do that, or with any question about this page, email beaminstercurryhouse@gmail.com.
